The ups and downs of event planning…

One of the best parts of being an event planner is knowing that each project has a beginning, middle, and end. There is such a sense of satisfaction once an event is over, and it’s nice to be able to cross it off my list, and move onto the next project.

There’s something about being able to measure your success so easily and quickly, and I don’t know of many other professions that can provide that feeling of completion and sense of accomplishment.

This year has been an interesting one. I’ve relaunched my event consulting business, started playing with social media as a way to get the word out about my work (and to help provide people with some useful tips), and I’ve gotten to work with some incredible clients.

Even though I’ve been working in this field for 15+ years, I still learn something new with each event, and that’s another thing that makes this profession so great. One of the most important lessons from this transitional year has been that it’s okay to look to other professionals for advice and support. I’m such a perfectionist that it’s hard to trust someone else’s opinions, but I realize that without outside guidance, it’s tough to see things from any other perspective than my own.

This has enabled me to trust myself and my experience even more, and I look forward to the next year with so much excitement. Thank you to everyone who has supported me in my first year back with LW Events. I can’t wait to see where I am this time next year!
