Why I do this work…

Why I do this work…

I am one of those Art History majors that completely fell into event planning, and 15 years later it’s crazy to think about all the events I’ve planned and people I have met. It has been a whirlwind of floral arrangements, committee meetings, and fundraising dollars, and while it can be super stressful sometimes, I still love it.

Maybe it’s the control-freak/organizational nut in me that keeps me engaged in this work, or maybe it’s the sheer excitement of working so hard on a project for months, and seeing its success unfold in one evening. Planning events is a wild ride of unexpected surprises (both good and bad), but the sense of accomplishment once an event is over is why I keep coming back for more.

Every time I think I know everything, I learn something new, and right now my excitement is really brewing around event consulting vs. event planning. There is a difference, and LW Events is focusing on event consulting and taking the stress out of event planning for clients. Working with my clients these past few months has been eye-opening for me as I try to navigate the new model I’ve designed. It’s working, and I’m helping people in my community move their events forward and leave their mark on their attendees and donors. It’s fun, stressful, and crazy at times, but I love it.

I can’t wait to see what the next year holds!
