I’ve been planning nonprofit events, for over 15 years, so I have a unique perspective when it comes to events. In my experience, most nonprofits focus on the event planning details instead on how the event is serving their mission and big-picture goals for the year. Are the right people going to be in the room? Is your team prepared to talk with them that night? How are you going to use the event as a springboard for building relationships with your donors? If you haven’t asked yourselves these questions, it’s time to start!

When I started LW Events, I never imagined I’d be able to work with so many incredible clients and partners. Becoming a certified WBE company through the City of Columbus, as well as becoming a social enterprise, has allowed me to connect more deeply with my work and my clients. Giving back to my local community, and my clients, has always been a dream of mine, and I am so happy to say that dream has been fulfilled.

Events are expensive and time consuming, so if you aren’t taking full advantage of what your event can do for your organization, you are leaving money on the table. I look at events as one small piece, of a much bigger picture, and I want to see nonprofits making their events more effective. I will help them think more strategically about what they need their events to do, set goals, and analyze whether their events actually accomplish those goals.
